Claudia Valentina
Claudia Valentina’s music video for I luv that babe was suggested on my YouTube page this week. The visuals, the aesthetics, the looks, the editing, the dancing - everything captured me. I was pleased with how well it complimented the song: a hip-pop alternative dance track. It was sexy and trancey and catchy all at once. A song I would truly want to hear in the club. I had not previously heard of Ms. Valentina, but I’m glad I came across this work. As the (current) top comment on the video reads “I fear this is your best work yet.” Upon a deeper dive into Claudia’s discography, I have to agree. The singer from Guernsey has released a number of singles leading up to this most recent track, but none of them hit the same. Diamonds On My Teeth is a close second, but can sound still a bit elementary at times. I hope she continues to go further in the direction of I luv that babe. There is so much potential here, especially with the added element of her unique voice and rapping, which sets her aside in the genre. Using both visuals and audio, Claudia Valentina was able to curate a distinct space here. I look forward to seeing more of this.
