GLOW ON

Turnstile came in swinging. GLOW ON is one of the most entertaining records I've ever come across. Its one of those records you always remember listening to for the first time. Because of the shock. The awe. The pleasure. Turnstile has a talent for keeping you guessing. It is joyfully unpredictable, flexing flawless element-blending while staying true to their hardcore rock roots. Production and vocals alike are high quality overall the record flaunts some highly original tracks. But let's talk about those transitions! No one does transitions like Turnstile. These track-to-track transitions make the record feel that much easier to listen to and ensure their varied (sometimes funky) mix of instruments flow all together. I would also say its a great soft-launch record for friends who are new to punk because there really is something for everyone in this record (unlike their former records which are excellent but more homogenous and a little more hardcore.) Part of GLOW ON's charm is it's originality, which is why Turnstile's recent NEVER ENOUGH is not featured in Forever Favorites. It felt like a GLOW ON part two (down to the damn cover art and title), and, while a good record, lacking that originality means it doesn't feel remarkable enough to be in my all-time favorite collection.
