In Waves (Deluxe)

001

A simply fun, well-produced record. Jamie xx is one of the most respectable in the... non-defined genre game? It feels wrong to put him in a box. The beats in In Waves (Deluxe) are high quality and attention-grabbing. The songs are long, and often incorporate monologues, dialogues, and audio extracts. There is a theme of presence in the album: meditaton clips, moments of silence. These aspects help the album to feel grounding - it demands presence (and dancing!). The back-to-back long tracks can feel a bit repeitive to me. I believe this is why I have a strong preference for the deluxe version - the five additional tracks at the end boosted the record’s diversity. Not only - I think F.U. (a deluxe track) was the best in the album, and definitely should have been in the original record. Overall, a strong reccomendation.
