I'm The Problem
Mid. Mid. Mid. Mid. Mid. Words cannot express my let-down around I’m The Problem. And yet, as dissapointed as I am, I would be lying if I said I was surprised. Ever since his Nashville bar incident in April 2024, Wallen has been on a bit of a decline. He's been “sober” ever since the incident, but this record reveals hes really just a dry alcoholic. My biggest problem with the album is that it is far too alcohol- centered. Not only was the theme repetitive and overused, but the instrumentals and production was too. I could not stay tuned-in while listening. The tracks blended into one another at some point and my eyes glazed over. I usually like his longer style of record (all three of his former records are among my Forever Favorites), but when the tracks are this repetitive it feels like torture. Moreover, it is clear that Wallen is aware of his own decline. Very little pre-release marketing (especially compared to OTAAT), featuring Tate McRae, and even the title of the record all go to show that Wallen knows that he is not at his peak, and that this is not his best work.
