private music
Deftones’ allure never ends. Almost 3 decades since they started, the band has arrived with a record that proves they remain the masters of their perfected sound. On private music, Deftones is effortlessly heavy and heart-wrenching, how they know to be. private music is the ultimate display of their balance of doom and beauty. The tracks are catchy and bleed into eachother (the basslines and drums on my mind is a mountain and milk of the madonna are exceptional), making the record feel cohesive. It feels mathematically proportioned: their anger is contained. Surely, the album is more sterlie than previous ones, but I would argue that is bound to happen with a shift in eras. This refined sound is appropriate. Above all, Deftones should be revered as one of the few iconic 1990’s bands that is still producing albums at a high caliber. Not many of their peers can say the same.
